Natural Disasters


Natural disasters are not wanted but Inevitable. We can’t do anything against it. We better be prepared for what it may come.

The following activities are for you to understand that there is something that we can do to protect ourselves. Also to review the topic of past tense, work on the writing ability and learn new vocabulary related to natural disasters.
*Some activities require the use of dropbox, you will upload your homework here. If you don't have it, you must download it DROPBOX

Activity 1

 Watch the following video to learn what the most tragical ones were. Remember to turn on the Close Caption (cc) in English.

Which one of those disasters scared you the most and why? Mention at least three disasters with the explanation why they scared you the most. Post your answer in the comment section. Comment until February 25th

Activity 2

In word write a sentence for word that you heard in the video. You must upload the file with your sentences to the dropbox folder “Natural disasters”

Activity 3

Solve the following puzzle, it contains some of the words on the previous activity. For this activity you will have to print out the puzzle and bring it to the february 27th class as a homework.


Activity 4

Go to this site and choose what natural disaster you want to simulate and try not to have casualties as possible. Make sure that the page is in English, I not you will have to change it. Finally you will upload the picture of your simulator to dropbox:

Activity 5


Write a newspaper note here of a different disaster that you used in the simulator. You will have to name the newspaper, put a date and make a headline. Remember that spelling and grammar have to be accurate because that is what will be graded. Your note must be at least 300 words long. You have until February 28th to upload your newspaper note to dropbox

Conclusion

After all we went through the web we could see that disasters are among us and that we should know how to deal with them. In class we will have a debate about what is correct to do or not to do in these type of emergencies.
